ORGANIZATION: Sea Save Foundation

Development Director

Work with our team of highly dedicated volunteers to carry forward Sea Save Foundation's mission to build awareness and resolve challenges facing our ocean ecosystems. The development director's primary responsibility is to raise money to support the organization's programs and services and to oversee a team of volunteers working on various development departments, such as large donor communications, fundraisers, grantwriting, fundraising tools, and online/social media giving strategies. Familiarity with SalesForce is a plus.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Creates and implements a development plan that solicits donors and identifies funding sources such as grants, in-kind donations, charitable events and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Sets fundraising goals and determines overall strategy
  • Recruits and trains new team members as needed
  • Becomes a representative for Sea Save Foundation

Position Qualification:

  • Passionate about ocean conservation; experience as a diver a plus
  • 1-3 years of development experience with a strong understanding of at least two of the following areas: grant writing, fundraising and/or sponsorships
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Strong partnership-building skills

Our needs vary dramatically day by day. The Sea Save Foundation director is extremely busy and relies upon her support team. This position is critical for the success of our organization. The perfect candidate is flexible and able to wear many hats. S/he is curious, loves to learn, is discreet and a master mutitasker, problem solver and "fire putter-outer."

Responsibilities:

  • Be willing to work side by side with Sea Save Foundation Director Georgienne Bradley. Learn about our organization's current tools and how to use them.

  • Work with director to learn about housekeeping tasks and gradually assume those responsibilities
  • Arrange meetings, conference calls or events and ensure director is on track

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Good organizational skills

  • Knowledge of nonprofit organizations preferred

  • Be very comfortable with Internet research and using cloud-based applications
  • A highly motivated, diligent self-starter with a positive attitude, a desire to learn, a passion for nonprofit work, and a love for our oceans

Description

Sea Save Foundation approaches conservation from two fronts:

  1. We develop and promote inspiring educational campaigns that showcase the beauty of ocean flora and fauna and underscore the current challenges facing our marine ecosystems.
  2. We couple serious environmental issues with concrete advocacy campaigns undertaken by our supporters and partners. With these programs, we hope to raise awareness about the importance of ocean conservation and create sustainable, healthy ecosystems for generations to come. It’s your ocean. Do something about it!
