ORGANIZATION: 211 Orange County

Help us End Homelessness! Join 211OC for this exciting opportunity to help end homelessness in Orange County! The Point in Time (PIT) count is a biannual tally of people without a home on a particular night. The next PIT count occurs on January 24th, 2015. The results of the count shape the county’s approach to ending homelessness. Why We Count We count because we want to understand homelessness in our community in order to end it. This "Point-In-Time" count provides vital information that guides and shapes the way we approach and solve homelessness in Orange County. Volunteers Needed! We need an estimated 1,500 volunteers to help by counting and working as deployment site staff during the count and survey on the morning of January 24th, 2015. The count and survey will occur on the streets throughout the entire county. Volunteer by working in the Field Teams (identify, count, and survey homeless in predetermined mapped areas) or as Support Crew (helping those working in the field at Deployment Centers). Additional Information Prior to the count, every volunteer will have to participate in approximately 3 hours of training. There will be a variety of days and times these trainings will be offered in the months leading up to the count. 2015 PIT Deployment Centers include: Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Anaheim, and San Clemente. If deploying from San Clemente, areas you may be mapping include: Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, and Rancho Santa Margarita.
