small dog

We are an established animal rescue organization that wants to expand our network in South Jersey. We are looking for fosters for small dogs that are patient, loving, and willing to learn about dog communication and behavior. You will not only help save lives of dogs in need but also learn how to be a benevolent leader and teach some basic manners. We have a trainer on board that assists our fosters and adopters with integrating pets into the home and with any issues they may have. You will also have a coordinator/mentor in South Jersey who will help you get setup and anything you need to care for the dog in your care. Most small dogs are in our care for less than 3 months.

Our application process is short and sweet and we respond to everyone within the same or next day. You do NOT need to have a fenced in yard, provide 3 years tax returns, schedule an in depth home visit etc., although the coordinator will likely meet you at your home. We do ask that you come to at least 1 event every other month and communicate need through our online group.

We cover all veterinary costs as well as any food and supplies you may need.

If you can help by opening your home to a small dog, please contact us via http://www.pawstoheart.org/contact.html

Mission Statement

Paws to Heart Rescue's mission is to provide temporary shelter to abandoned, stray, and surrendered animals for the purpose of finding permanent suitable new homes for them.

Description

As a foster home based organization, all of the dogs and many of the cats in our care are in temporary, private pre-screened homes until adopted. Because they live with our volunteers’ families until they are adopted, we are able to learn a lot about their behaviors, personalities, and likes and dislikes. For those who say they could never foster because they would become too attached, think of all the countless lives you could save by providing a safe haven for animals in need. You could save dozens, even hundreds of lives, just by providing a warm and loving temporary place for them to stay while they await their forever home. There is no greater joy than seeing these wonderful pets move on into their forever homes and opening up a spot in your home to continually save more. Paws to Heart has partnered with PetValu so that we can reach even more people interested in adopting a rescued pet. We currently have three adoption sites where some of our cats and kittens stay until they are adopted. Cats are available for adoption 7 days a week at each store. Volunteers help care for and socialize these cats each day. These off-site locations allow us to take in more animals in need and reduce overcrowding at the shelters we pull from.

The majority of animals rescued by Paws to Heart Rescue have been pulled from overcrowded shelters. Puppies, kittens, mixed breeds, and purebreds may fall victim and for many of these animals, we are their last chance.
