The Jewish Federation’s Mitzvah Food Project works to combat issues of hunger in both the Jewish and greater communities throughout Philadelphia. With five pantry locations, the project provides individuals and families in need with nutritious food options and basic staples, serving them in a caring and dignified manner. Volunteers are needed at all five locations (Beth Shalom Congregation, Congregation Tifereth Israel of Bucks County, Jewish Communal Services Building, Kaiserman Jewish Community Center, and the Klein Jewish Community Center) every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Food packages are assembled on Wednesday evenings and distributed on Thursday evenings. On Friday afternoons, events are held for senior citizens in need. Food is served and social activities are planned.
