Speak Your Mind Texas
Half of all mental health problems begin before age 14.

Do you know a young person who is possibly experiencing a mental health issue or a drug or alcohol problem?

You can help. Join local parents, young people, school counselors, treatment providers and others who care in a discussion about mental health problems and substance abuse in our community.

You can help by coming to our Town Hall Meeting and learning the facts:

  • Do you know how to tell if a young person is going through a crisis or needs help?
  • Learn the warning signs.
  • Find out about the resources in our community.
  • Learn how to connect a young person in crisis to treatment and recovery services.

About LifeSteps

Location:

Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve our community’s health, safety, and well-being by preventing substance use disorders, providing early intervention, and supporting long-term recovery. Prevent. Intervene. Promote Recovery.

Description

LifeSteps, has served Williamson County since 1978. In the beginning, only a long, narrow staircase to a small second floor office overlooking the courthouse on the historic square in Georgetown linked clients to a couple of Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors. Clients seeking sobriety would start up those steps to begin a journey towards a better life, hence the name "LifeSteps."

LifeSteps focuses on raising awareness about new drug trends and substance use disorders, substance abuse prevention, assessments, parenting classes for families at-risk for substance abuse, and support for persons in long-term recovery.

Our programs serve thousands of individuals and their families throughout McLennan, Travis and Williamson County and include strong working relationships with the JP and mujnicipal courts, the Sheriff’s Office, Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission, the Drug Enforcement Administration, school districts, health service agencies, mental health clinics, the faith-based community and non-profit organizations at the local and state level.

LifeSteps’ vision is a safe, supportive, drug-free community with healthy, nurturing families; where all who experience alcohol or drug related problems have affordable, easy access to the services that they need to help them become productive, empowered and substance free.
