Blue Sky docents may perform a variety of tasks, including patrols, in-classroom interpretive programs, guided nature walks, assistance at events, and habitat restoration.
Ten training sessions vary in length from 2 to 4 hours, and are held over a three month period. Topics include orientation, plants, habitats, reptiles and amphibians, mammals, birds, and insects.
Training are held on Saturday mornings, in addition to two Wednesday evenings.
Orientation will take place in the Pavilion at Lake Poway on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 8:30 am

We are dedicated to the preservation and protection of Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. Our goal is to carefully manage this valuable resource for future generations. Staff and volunteers provide interpretive natural resource programs to foster stewardship, and recreational activities that promote healthier lifestyles. Volunteers also create opportunities for the public, schools, and community-based groups to connect with nature.
Description
Blue Sky is a 700+ acre ecological reserve in Poway, California. Managed by the City of Poway, Blue Sky is jointly owned by California Department of Fish and Wildlife, San Diego County Parks and Recreation Department, and the City of Poway.
Volunteers assist with Interpretive Programming, lead nature hikes, provide outreach to schools, and assist with invasive species removal.
