IRC Child Care Volunteer/Intern Position

The IRC Child Care program provides structured child development programming for children of refugee families who are on site at the IRC for workshops, orientations, and ESOL instruction. The child care program serves children ages zero to five years old. The program provides structured, culturally- and linguistically-appropriate activities for children between the hours of 9:00am until 12:30pm, Monday ? Friday. The child care program typically serves over 200 children each year.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Child Care Teachers with implementing developmentally appropriate activities
  • Care for infants and children as necessary
  • Support the structure and schedule of program activities
  • Maintain safe and sanitary environment for children
  • Participate in monthly First Things First team meetings
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings
  • Comply with IRC policy and protocols

Qualifications:

  • Must be comfortable working with young children and children experiencing separation anxiety
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Must be comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Must be flexible and creative
  • Must have initiative and be able to work independently
  • Ability to pass state required criminal background check
