Like a traditional "Lock-In," the Art In is an indoor community gathering where fun workshops and activities are available to take part in. ArtCorps will be hosting the Art In at Whittier ECE-8, which is free and open to the public. We will have 5 workshop tables featuring different art processes. We will need a volunteer to assist with materials and instructions at each station, though processes will be simple. Come be the friendly face of the Art In with welcoming participants; facilitating workshop stations; tracking attendants; and helping with set up/tear down. The success of this event is dependant on fantastic volunteers who are passionate about community and education.

ArtCorps' primary purpose is to stimulate change in neighborhood public schools by establishing strong connections between art, education, and the community.
Description
The program increases students’ opportunities for creative engagement in schools, allowing for a more rigorous and well-rounded education. Through the work of VISTA members, RedLine will be able to bolster the educational and extracurricular arts programs beginning at Whittier ECE-8, an underserved school in RedLine’s community of Five Points.
