Hoping to gain experience in the field of mental health while establishing deep interpersonal connections?
Plymouth House of Healing is a unique family-style home in which staff live alongside residents transitioning out of inpatient psychiatric treatment. We seek to interrupt the cycle of hospitalization and homelessness by providing residents with companionship, housing, and deep respect. We believe that people are better equipped to pursue holistic well-being in the context of loving community.
Respite Companions spend a few hours each month offering healing presence and emotional support to House of Healing residents. On any given day, this might involve chatting over a cup of coffee, preparing a family-style meal, or playing a favorite board game. Respite companions encourage and model accountability, sensitivity, and self-awareness.
Respite Companions will complete a series of trainings and shadow shifts prior to beginning independent work at the house. Because companionship practice fosters deep interpersonal connections, the Respite Companion position requires a one-year commitment as well as the availability to fill two 4-5 hour shifts each month. Shifts run Monday-Sunday 8 am-1 pm, 1 pm-6 pm, and 6pm-10pm.

Mission Statement
Healing takes place when people are shown the care, love and respect we all deserve. Plymouth Healing Communities provides companionship, housing, and circles of support for people who live with mental illness and housing instability.
Description
We seek to build a trustworthy, stable, and empowering community for people threatened with mental health crises and co-occurring conditions, who are living with housing instability or homelessness. Our approach to providing supportive housing is based on partnerships with other service providers, supportive services by our staff, the development of companionship and community, and mission driven property management. Collectively, we work toward an outcome where residents can strengthen their mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual resilience and maintain financial and housing stability.
