The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) seeks dedicated, serious individuals with a passion for contemporary art, education and self-expression to participate as non-professional, volunteer "therapists" as part of ICA's inaugural exhibition Pedro Reyes: Sanatorium.
Sanatorium is an interactive work of art that takes the form of a transient clinic. The work requires the involvement of enthusiastic adults eager to communicate the artist’s therapies, and is an opportunity to gain a new perspective on the human psyche and how art can activate transformative experiences.
Volunteers will process visitors, implement therapies, and record results.
Requirements are as follows:• Individuals must be mature and responsible with the ability to pass a background check.
• Interested individuals who submit an application will be interviewed prior to training.
• Selected individuals must have the ability to volunteer during the week.
• Once selected, volunteers attend 8 hours of training . On Dec. 1, Reyes will be on-site to teach selected participants to convey his message.
• Once trained, volunteers will commit to participate as "therapists" for three-hour sessions, at a minimum of 6 hours a week.
• 18 and over only (Interested college students may have the ability to earn internship credit, additional time commitment will be required, email below for more information).
