Can you imagine fleeing your homeland to save yourself or your family, only to feel incredibly isolated in your new home because you cannot speak the native language? This is the reality of many immigrants and refugees living in the Tampa Bay area. Many of these immigrants are children, brought to the United States with their parents. These families must attempt to assimilate or face continued isolation in their new homes. Help these children learn English as a part of our Families Learning Together program, located at the High Point Branch YMCA. ESOL teaching is held every Monday and Thursday evening from 6pm-8pm. Experience working with children is required, preferably experience with children who speak other languages.
