The Young Parent Program (YPP) works with parents ages 18-25 with case management and employment and education specialists. The ultimate goal is to help the parents achieve their educational goals through obtaining a high school diploma or GED, employment and obtain permanent housing. The program participants enroll in a 6-week class on parenthood. The next quarter starts January 7th, on Wednesdays from 5-8pm.

The Young Parent Program Group Childcare Volunteer opportunity is a support position that provides childcare while the mothers attend this meeting. This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves kids and wants to provide a positive environment for them to play.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Engage the children through positive games and activities and through positive attitudes before, during, and after group.
  • Assist with preparing dinner for the group.
  • Be able to commit to Wednesdays January 7th through February 11th.

Details:

  • Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
  • Toys, games and supplies are available. But volunteers are welcome to bring their own ideas.
  • Children's age range from 18 months to 6 yrs. old
  • Experience working with children and families who are homeless.
