CALL FOR ARTISTS--YOUTH MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
RedLine is seeking dedicated artists to act as artist mentors for youth experiencing homelessness at Whittier ECE-8 School.
ArtCorps Mentoring, a program of RedLine, collaborates with Whittier ECE-8 School to provide creative mentorship in the arts. ArtCorps Mentoring gives youth experiencing homelessness a practical way to approach issues with the inquiring mind of an artist. Through this mentorship, you will work one-on-one with a student over the course of the year, acting as a friend and advocate while teaching them skills in an art medium and creating a social engagement project.
Your role will include the following responsibilities:
- Meet once a week for 2.5 hours October through May at Whittier School
- Act as a friend and mentor
- Help youth create a project of their own design
- Teach skills in an art medium
- Develop personalized art assignments for youth
- Guide youth as they develop a social engagement art project
- Attend an orientation session
Deadline to submit applications is Monday September 21. Please contact Hayley Krichels for an application: hayley.artcorps@gmail.com.
An orientation will be held on September 27th and October 1st at RedLine in Five Points, Denver. Attached is the program description and application. Please contact Hayley Krichels with any questions.
