SEE Cruise

BCB's annual cruise-themed fundraising event, SEE Cruise, includes raffles, silent auctions, live music, and great food and drink at Southside Pub in Lexington. We encourage volunteers to dress in tropical attire for the event.

  • Soliciting silent auction items - Don't mind asking businesses to support a worthy cause? We need as many people as possible to solicit and gather auction items prior to our event. It's easy! We provide an ask letter that you present to any business - and it lets the donor know all donated items are tax-deductible. This volunteer opportunity is something you can do on your own schedule and can begin up to 3 months before the event date.
  • Basket bundling - Prior to the event, we need about 8 people to bundle items together, creating baskets or packages with creative names and bid sheets for each. This is a fun activity and great for those with creative minds and a flair for decorating!

  • Greeter/Admission - Be the first people our attendees come in contact with at the door. Collect the admission, which is tax deductible, and send the passengers on their way to the SEE Cruise!

  • Selling raffle tickets - Walk around, meet the passengers, and help sell raffle tickets! Pull the winning numbers after a pack of raffle tickets are sold and make someone’s day!

  • Information table - Volunteer at our information table and inform our passengers of all the great things BCB does! At the information table, you will also be handing out t-shirts for $10 donations.

  • Setting up silent auction displays - If you have a gift for decorating, you can set up our silent auction displays! Help make our auction items attractive to our passengers!

  • Silent auction safekeeping - Help keep our silent auction items in order. When the silent auction ends, make sure the items go to the winning bidders!

Description

The Bluegrass Council of the Blind, Inc. provides information, education, advocacy, and referral to blind and visually impaired (blind/vi) adults in Fayette and surrounding Eastern KY counties.

Among the services offered are peer counseling; referral to appropriate agencies or programs to assist individuals in their adjustment to blindness; educational and social activities; advocacy services for the blind; a speakers’ bureau to promote the potential of blind/vi adults within the community.
