Come to a farm in the city and learn what it takes to grow your own food. We practice organic and biodynamic methods and grow everything from fruit, flowers, vegetables, bees produce honey and chickens for their delicious eggs. If you volunteer with us you could work on any of these planting projects or help us start seeds, pull weed (sorry) plant trees, spread mulch or learn irrigation. Our farm is a great example of biodiversity on a small scale and we would love to host you and your friends!

Mission Statement
develop and maintain farmland in an urban setting, to grow specialty crops, and offer the public fresh and healthy food choices, teach farming to the community and aid in the transformation of more urban farm land.
Description
Long Beach Local is an agriculture based official 501(c)3 non-profit. We focus on training "young" farmers and educating residents about urban farming here in the city of Long Beach. Currently we are an all volunteer organization and rely on donations, grant funding and the sale of our farm products to cover our operational costs.
We have a 1-acre farm located at 2714 California Ave called Farm Lot 59. We grow food and flowers the old fashioned way using our hands, without pesticides and chemicals. We have egg laying hens for pest management and bee hives for pollination and honey production.
