Tiyya is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Santa Ana. We work all across Orange County and in Los Angeles.
Empowering refugee and displaced American families through educational and recreational programming, Tiyya builds a supportive community by providing tools and resources for youth and their families.
Tiyya is looking for a bright, talented, creative individual to join our team as a social media intern. We are looking to explain to the public the issues refugees face, highlight the work we do, and grow our social media fan base.
Applicant must be self-driven and flexible, caring, and willing to grow as we grow.
Those with experience in start-ups, non-profit work, and working on social media campaigns is a plus, though not required.
As a non-profit, Tiyya has a close-knit, small team running its operations. We are a highly collaborative team, working with university student groups, community members, and the County of Orange. We hope to find someone that will work well in a group setting, but can also manage assignments on their own.
If you think you would be a good fit for our Tiyya family, please email christina@tiyya.org and put Tiyya Social Media Intern in the subject line.
This is currently an unpaid position.

Mission Statement
We strive to provide community support and educational opportunities for families of refugees, immigrants, and displaced Americans. In doing so, we hope to create a community that fosters the development of self-sufficiency, ultimately helping our program participants overcome obstacles and actively participate in society.
Description
After being uprooted, starting over can be very challenging and emotionally consuming for refugees and displaced families. Newly arrived parents struggle to navigate a foreign system in which basic daily tasks, such as public transportation, doctor's visits, grocery shopping, etc., become challenges. Furthermore, they cannot provide their children the support they need to succeed in school and feel part of our community .
Tiyya is a grassroots organization that provides programmatic support for the whole family. Led by volunteers, our vision is to create a society that is compassionate and understanding of refugee experiences through developing relationships and fostering the public’s engagement.
