Mission Statement
Copperview Elementary School works with children in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Description
Copperview Elementary is located in the middle of a well-established community in Midvale City. Some of the earliest homes built in Salt Lake Valley are within the school's boundaries. The area has produced many noteworthy citizens, including former Congressman Dan Marriott, Astronaut Don Lind, and prominent civic leader Maurine C. Jensen. The school also serves students living in a rapidly expanding area of apartment houses and mobile home units.
The Copperview staff strives to give students a well-rounded education and a good foundation in basic skills. One of the top goals is to help students develop the self-esteem that is vital to success in school and life.
- Copperview Elementary serves approximately 600 students in grades kindergarten through six.
- The school, which opened in 1961, is a traditional style with self-contained classrooms.
- Copperview operates on a standard nine-month calendar. The school day begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. except on Fridays when the school closes at 1:40 p.m. to allow time for teachers to hold planning meetings.
