Description:

The Immigration Legal Volunteer will work with the Immigration Specialist on immigration matters related to the resettlement of refugees/asylees in the United States. The position is unpaid.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to inquiries and appointment requests made to IRC Dallas.
  • Prepare materials for clients.
  • Complete Adjustment of Status, Citizenship, CAM AOR's and family petition applications with clients.
  • Conduct outreach to inform the community of IRC services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task between legal and programmatic issues, and manage time effectively
  • Excellent inter-personal skills; ability to work independently, and strong organizational skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Spanish preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word & Excel) and internet research.
  • Volunteers will be needed for at least 2 days a week
  • Interns must commit to 15 hours a week for 4 months
