ORGANIZATION: Care For the Homeless

  • 7 people are interested

Care for the Homeless is a non-profit organization that operates over 30 medical clinics for the homeless our partner shelters, drop-in locations, and soup kitchens throughout the city. We also operate Susan’s Place, a transitional residence for 200 homeless women in the Bronx.

We are excited to announce our new volunteer-run donation delivery service called Couriers for Health! Volunteers are needed to help distribute toiletry, school supply, and winter accessory donations to our clinic sites a few times a year. Ideal candidates should have their own form of transportation and be willing to carry donations of various shapes and sizes. This opportunity is perfect for those who can only serve a few days out of the year, but still want to make a positive impact on the lives of homeless New Yorkers!

About Care For the Homeless

Location:

30 East 33rd street, 5th Fl, New York, NY 10016, US

Mission Statement

Care For the Homeless fights homelessness by delivering high-quality and client-centered health care, human services and shelter to homeless individuals and families, and by advocating for policies to ameliorate, prevent and end homelessness.

Description

Care For the Homeless (CFH) serves 10,000 homeless men, women, and children annually and provides comprehensive health care at multiple sites co-located at soup kitchens, shelters, drop-in centers and street outreach programs in all 5 boroughs of NYC. Our service delivery model provides care where homeless individuals and families are receiving a variety of other services with the goal of reducing barriers to accessing high-quality health care. CFH also operates three transitional housing sites with on-site health care and is expanding shelter services in the future, ensuring a safe, supportive path to permanent housing.

In addition, CFH is committed to ending homelessness by conducting public education, research, and analysis of model programs and practices that create permanent housing opportunities, and by shaping policies to prevent future homelessness.
