Arts East New York (AENY)’s fifth year as an organization marks an exciting period of dramatic growth as we launch the [re]New Lots Market & Artist Incubator. Funded in part by the New York City Economic Development Corporation, this mobile model for neighborhood revitalization will activate two vacant lots towards leveraging socially engaged artists, supporting local entrepreneurs, and building community. As a one-stop shop anchored in the arts and rooted in community, [re]New Lots will create constant interplay between the arts and entrepreneurship, resulting in a renewable cycle of creativity, trade, and social exchange. All economic and artistic activity will be cultivated by a professional development support system consisting of training's, workshops, lectures, and networking events. In return for free professional development and below-market studio rental space, ten participating artists will lead unique collaborative projects directly engaging a wide range of East New York youth and positively impacting the community’s visual environment.
