Montgomery Parks is fortunate to have the wonderful Agricultural History Farm Parkin Derwood, complete with farm animals. These animals (which can include goats, pigs, and chickens) need daily care and we are looking for volunteers to commit to at least one shift a week. Duties include feeding animals and cleaning out the stalls. Throrough training will be provided. Volunteers are asked to commit to come in once a week (vacation schedules can be accommodated) for at least 6 months of service.

This is a family oriented volunteer program where children can help care for farm animals, as long as they work directly alongside an approved adult.

To become an official volunteer, applicants 16 and older are interviewed, pass a background check and complete extensive training.

Youth ages 12 and up can earn Student Service Learning (SSL) Hours.

Children ages 8 and up may help under the watchful eye of their parents, but NO children under age 8 allowed on site while a supervising parent is doing animal care.

This is a great opportunity for those who want to care for animals, and to learn about how farming is so important to our history and future.
