LIJMC has a PEACE program: Patient Engagement And Communication Enhancement
Our volunteers receive additional training to provide support, comfort, orientation as needed to our patients in various inpatient locations. We are looking for retirees who can provide longer term involvement with the program.
Applicants: You will want to have patient contact ( non clincial, of course) and you are comfortable communicating with all ages. Our program emphasizes patient centered care and volunteers are always looking to meet the needs of our patients.
Requirements: excellent communication skills, an understanding of the needs/fears/expectations of patients very helpful. A second language helpful, also.

Volunteer assignments are available in our hospitals on campus--LIJ and the Zucker Hillside Hospital-- plus numerous satellites. The newest addition to our campus, the Katz Women's Hospital and the Zuckerberg Pavilion only magnifies our focus on our community and the care we give!
