Looking for motivated volunteers who can commit various time slots during our Citi CPS Chicago Debate League Championships! We rely on an incredible network of volunteers - students, alumni, parents, teachers, and everyone passionate about education, debate, civics and providing the best opportunities for Chicago’s youth!

Opportunties available for our Championship Tournament: 1. Judging debate rounds; 2. Tournament Operations. Some duties include:
- Answer questions regarding the debate tournament’s schedule and location of classrooms/restrooms
- Collect, organize and distribute judge ballots
- Collect and distribute W9 tax forms for judge payment
- Set up judge table with forms and background materials found in Tournament "Black Box"
- Provide coaches and judges with information and background materials, as requested
- Assist tournament director with tournament check-in sheets and registration, including making phone calls to verify registration with coaches and judges
- Check classrooms to ensure debates have started according to schedule
- Assist with set-up and clean-up of meals, as requested
- Screen questions from coaches about tournament competition
- Produce and post copies of round schedules
- Produce tournament results packets
- Determine the winner and loser of our academic debate rounds

Description
As a partner to Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Debates promotes, facilitates, and runs competitive debate programming in high schools and middle schools across Chicago, serving over 1200 students each year. Chicago Debates also trains teachers to use debate tools and methodologies to improve the delivery of regular curricula. Debate provides low-income and minority Chicago students with a unique educational program that dramatically improves academic results and expands college and life opportunities while supporting the next generation of civic leaders.
