ORGANIZATION: Wesley Housing/Wesley Property Management

Assist with teaching English to adults in Wesley Housing’s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program to empower them to participate more confidently in their communities and broaden their social horizons.

    • Teach adult students with varied English skill levels in the following:

      • Reading, writing, speaking and comprehension

      • Basic interview skills

      • U.S. Citizenship test preparation

    • Teach in a one-on-one or small group class setting

    • Teach English to adults who speak Urdu, Somali, Arabic and other languages

    • Communicate and work closely with ESOL Instructor to coordinate activities

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Previous experience teaching or volunteering ESOL preferred, but not required

  • Required Skills:

  • Ability to work with residents from diverse cultural backgrounds

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Organized, reliable, and punctual

  • Patient and sensitive to students’ needs
