You can earn that smile of appreciation from a child by collecting school supplies that they need to succeed in school. The children who will be receiving these much needed school materials and supplies are from struggling families who don’t have the resources to purchase these school supplies. There is an estimated 3,500 homeless children in the School District that are living in motels, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, etc. We can help provide these children the opportunity to achieve the same high quality academic standards by eliminating barriers to their education.
The basic school supplies that most of us take for granted are not realistic for children living in poverty. This is a great volunteer project that helps many of these children be able to go to school ready to learn and succeed! Please contact United Way for more details!

United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) has successfully served northern Nevada for more than 75 years. With a goal to increase the number of children in northern Nevada who read proficiently at the end of the third grade, UWNNS concentrates on four key pillars needed to achieve the goal: early development and learning, kindergarten readiness and early literacy, early grade success and strengthening families.
