MAJOR OBJECTIVE
The volunteer volunteer coordinator will identify, track and manage a corps of volunteers for the benefit of the agency. The volunteer coordinator will directly contribute to increasing MOCEANS’ capacity to protect the rights of all people with disability.
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills
Ability to relate effectively with the public, fellow employees, and consumers in an appropriately professional manner
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple deadlines
Ability to problem-solve in a fast paced work environment
Advanced computer skills including typing, Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Apps
Bilingual in Spanish a plus
Ability to strictly adhere to confidentiality policies
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage volunteers and in-kind giving, including an email based network of giving.
Through communication with staff identify volunteer opportunities within the organization.
Assist in creating volunteer application and application review process.
Help establish agency orientation, training and background check standards for volunteer positions.
Use a database to track volunteers, their interests and availability.
Help create online portal for volunteer applications.
Increase public awareness of MOCEANS in the community and online.
Be visible in the community as an advocate for the Center and the consumers we serve.
Conduct outreach initiatives to expand volunteerism in support of MOCEANS programs.
ORIENTATION/TRAINING
MOCEANS will provide both online and in-person training. Orientation will occur on the first day of volunteer hours and will last approximately one hour. On-going training and support will be provided as needed.
TIME AND PLACE
The volunteer coordinator will work 10 or more hours each week. Most volunteer hours will occur between 8:30am-4pm, M-F, however some events will occur on evenings or weekends. Shifts will be assigned based on MOCEANS’ needs and Volunteer’s availability.
COMMITMENT
This position requires a minimum commitment of one year and offers a flexible schedule.
