Tues/Thurs 2-4pm

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an in-school academic support program.

The AVID Tutor will facilitate AVID tutorials and discussions.

AVID students watch tutorials. The students then determine if they have a point of confusion (POC). They present this to a small group of students, overseen by the tutor. After presenting their problem, what they know, and their POC, the group responds by asking questions of differing depths of knowledge (DOK) to help the student understand their errors in thinking, or to help further their knowledge. At no point do the students or tutors TELL the student what the answer or step is. Tutors oversee this process , making sure students are taking notes, and are asking questions with varying DOK levels. The tutor engages by asking questions of their own designed to keep the group on track.
