Position title: Volunteer Music Instructor

Purpose/Goal of Position: To teach youth at the Oceanside Corps Community Center how to read and play music or sing.

Qualifications/Skills/Certifications Needed:

1. Ability to read music and play an instrument or sing.

2. Prior experience in group instruction or teaching preferred.

3. Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred.

4. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and participants.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Prepare a syllabus and daily lesson plans for each class, based on student needs.

2. Promote activities to youth at The Salvation Army Oceanside Corps Community Center.

3. Responsible for overall set up and cleanup of activities.

4. Supervise activities for youth, with first priority in their safety, at all times following The Salvation Army’s safety policies for working with minors.

Time Commitment: Wednesdays 5:00 PM-7:30 PM. We request at least a three month commitment for this position.
