Voices Together seeks dynamic volunteers to serve a two-year term on the Voices Together Board of Directors. Voices Together leading-edge music therapy model helps children, and adults improve socialization, emotional expression, and communications skills. Candidates with a background in law, finance, business, marketing, fundraising, education, or non-profit governance are encouraged to volunteer. 028028

Responsibilities of the Board of Directors include:

• Focus on policymaking, planning, monitoring, and evaluation to further the mission of Voices Together.
• Board members are expected to take reasonable care when making decisions for the organization, act in the best interest of staff and clients, and demonstrate a sincere commitment to the mission of the organization.
• Collaborate with staff to set clear goals for Voices Together.
• Give careful consideration to all issues brought to you by individuals and special interests. Actively solicit input and listen to all perspectives. Operate as community representatives and make decisions in the best interest of Voices Together.
• Uphold the legal requirement for confidentiality on all matters arising from board meeting executive sessions.
• Attend regularly scheduled board and committee meetings unless a situation occurs that makes attendance impossible.
• Prepare before each meeting. Documents will be provided in advance of meetings in accordance with board protocols. Communicate directly with the Director of Education or board chair prior to meetings of the board to address questions and/or concerns about agenda items.
• Listen carefully and with courtesy when other people are speaking during board meetings.
• Cast a vote on all matters except when a conflict of interest arise.
