About The Sophia Way
Location:
11061 NE 2nd St., Suite 223, Bellevue, WA 98004, US
Mission Statement
The mission of The Sophia Way is to help end homelessness for adult women in King County by providing shelter, life skills training, social services and supportive permanent housing, offering a path from homelessness to stable independent living.
Description
Most of our clients have been chronically homeless women for a year or more and have multiple barriers to housing, including physical disability, mental illness, previous domestic violence, and substance abuse issues. Some clients have become homeless because of the recent economic downturn and others because of loss of a partner. None are currently living with young children, but some have adult children and so are disqualified from receiving aid from programs for homeless families.
The Sophia Way offers a range of services designed to empower the women we serve to return to housing and reclaim an independent stable life. Our programs include:
a) Sophia’s Place--A Staffed Overnight Shelter
b) Housing Assistance
c) Case Management
d) Eastside Emergency Shelter
e) Community Building
We offer many programs, including a Companion Program, that build community support around and among the women we serve.
