We rely on the time and talents of more than 250 volunteers to make Race for the Cure a success every year! Without our volunteers we could not invest the funds we do in research, screening, treatment and education for those in need in our community.
If you care about our community, have a passion for helping others, want to join the fight against breast cancer or just have some time to spare and want to do something worthwhile we’d love to hear from you!
We need volunteers to assist with a variety of duties on Race Day (October 5) and in the 4 days leading up to the Race. Opportunities include:
- Team packet assembly before Race Day at Grand Sierra Resort
- Packet pick up from October 1 through 4 at GSR
- Water station volunteers
- Breast cancer survivor recognition ceremony
- Parking coordinators
- Course marshals
- Expo volunteers - set up and tear down
- I AM THE CURE Ambassadors
- much more...

Mission Statement
Our mission is to fight breast cancer in Northern Nevada by funding programs that support those in the fight to save lives and educating Northern Nevada about breast cancer risk factors, the importance of early detection and the resources that are available to them.
Description
Komen Nevada serves thousands of women in Nevada by funding programs that:
provide low-cost or free screening mammograms, diagnostic testing and breast cancer treatment to uninsured or underinsured Nevada residents
provide support services before, during and after breast cancer treatment
We empower Nevada residents with information about the importance of early detection and breast health.
We donate 75 percent of net funds raised to vital local breast health services, and dedicate the remaining 25 percent to national research to find the cures.
Komen Nevada has works with community health partners via its annual community grants program to fund breast health programs and services for medically-under served Nevada residents.
