The American Lung Association in Nevada is recruiting adult non-smokers to be trained as facilitators for our Not On Tobacco (N-O-T) teen tobacco cessation program in Washoe County High Schools.
Not On Tobacco (N-O-T) is an American Lung Association tobacco cessation program for high school students to help them quit or reduce tobacco use. Taught in 50 minute once a week sessions, the 10 week N-O-T class supports students through the process of quitting by helping them understand tobacco and how it effects the body, tobacco myths, why people smoke, how to use tools to quit, and how to stay quit while striving for a healthy lifestyle.
Volunteer Facilitators complete an 8 hour training to learn about tobacco history, why people smoke, techniques to help smokers quit, and how to effectively support high school students using the N-O-T program.
Two years tobacco free, fingerprint background check, three references, and WCSD volunteer approval required.
The American Lung Association provides all training and program materials and a facilitator stipend.
