The American Lung Association in Nevada is recruiting adult female and male facilitators for our Teens Against Tobacco Use program in the Washoe County High Schools.
Teens Against Tobacco Use (T.A.T.U.) is an American Lung Association peer mentoring education program for high school students. T.A.T.U. provides leadership, teaching, and presentation skills to teen teachers who participate in the program. Teen teachers are trained on tobacco history, tobacco myths, why people smoke, and how to give a presentation to younger students. Teen teachers present tobacco education to elementary school students and in advocacy efforts in our community.
Facilitators go through an 8 hour training and learn about tobacco history, tobacco advertising why people smoke, and how to effectively train high school students to present tobacco education through the T.A.T.U. program.
The American Lung Association will provide training and materials. Two years tobacco free, fingerprint background check, three references, and WCSD volunteer approval required.
