The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) is excited to announce that DC’s annual art festival, Art All Night: Nuit Blanche DC will be expanding across the city on September 27, 2014. The Congress Heights Art All Night is specifically in search of volunteers to help make this year's event success. We will activate 5 blocks of programming on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue as well as at Gateway DC, Ward 8's new urban park.

Orientation is Monday September 22 at 7:30pm at the Gateway Pavilion 2700 MLK Ave SE. Please plan to attend if interested.


On event day, volunteers are needed beginning at 6pm to 3 am. (shifts are 4 hours depending on your availability)

General Event Staff (will be placed where needed throughout the event). Site Specific (You can volunteer for a specific curator or at a specific exhibit or activity) Technical (tell us what technical event skills you have) Operations (make sure logistics are executed) Security (help keep an orderly event)

The creative director for Congress Heights Main Streets (CHMS) is Tendani Mpulubusi El. In collaboration with the Ward 8 Arts & Culture Council, CHMS will host a variety of interdisciplinary creative attractions and artistic expressions.

What we Offer:

Grants - The Council’s seeks the most innovative and talented public humanities practitioners for our award winning grants programs. From blockbuster documentary films and museum exhibits to neighborhood history brochures and public author talks, we are looking for grantees ready to transform lives through the humanities.

Public Humanities Programs - Through our popular Humanitini and Soul of the Cityprograms we take cutting edge humanities ideas and bring them to the people of Washington, DC. Those ideas may come from the halls of academia, the front page of the newspaper, community meetings, or face to face conversations with fellow humanists.

DC Digital Museum - A public collection of over 400 educational resources, in a searchable online catalog. Most of the item pages include links to downloadable files or videos on HCTV, the Humanities Council’s Youtube Channel. We have oral history recordings, documentary films, original research, photograph collections, and much more; a treasure trove for scholars, students, and anyone interested in DC’s rich history and culture!
