Become a KEEN volunteer! Volunteering for KEEN is fun and provides the opportunity for one-to-one work with some terrific kids and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities. KEEN offers opportunities for occasional participation, regular involvement, or program leadership. You don't need any prior experience working with individuals who have disabilities - we'll train you on your first day of participation. You don't need to be athletic, either. Our athletes will love you just as you are!
As a volunteer, your job is to help your athlete take part in different swim activities, such as diving for rings, throwing inflatable balls, and playing with pool noodles. Just before the athletes arrive and the session begins, we'll give you a profile with details about your athlete's abilities as well as lots of helpful coaching hints. (It's important to note that our athletes have varying degrees of skill; although it's not always possible, we will try to match you up with an athlete that matches your sport interest and energy level.)
Please contact us to schedule your first volunteer session. We also welcome volunteer groups of any size for a one-time or ongoing volunteer experience!
