ORGANIZATION: Glen Leven Farm

  • 3 people are interested

Every year, Glen Leven hosts several student groups from area schools who take advantage of our fall field trip program. We offer educators various lesson plans that meet academic standards and promote our beautiful landscape as the perfect learning lab made complete by the property's status as an arboretum, the education garden, honeybee sanctuary, cattle and miniature donkeys, pumpkin patch, and historic home and outbuildings.

We run each program by rotating through these different "stations." As group guides, volunteers at Glen Leven will help guide groups of children from station to station in a timely manner, help answer questions, and generally help the students' visit run as smoothly as possible.

Our main volunteer needs are for the field trips that generally from October through November.

If you are interested in becoming a part of our team, we would love to have you!

Mission Statement

The Land Trust protects our natural and historic landscapes, both public and private, to make Tennessee a better place to live, work and play.

Description

Glen Leven Farm is a working 65-acre farm just four miles from the center of downtown Nashville . The property is owned by the Land Trust for Tennessee. The historic landscape was given to The Land Trust by Susan M. West, a descendant of Nashville settler Thomas Thompson who came to Nashville with James Robertson in the late 1780s. The Land Trust conserves the property as a place that illuminates all aspects of our work - it is a historic, urban, working farm used as a recreational and educational resource for the community.
