Explore Taylor Mountain Forest with Friends of the Cedar River Watershed and King County Parks! Taylor Mountain Forest is a critical wildlife corridor that connects Tiger Mountain and the protected Cedar River Watershed. The forest features wetlands, streams, and wildlife such as bear, elk, cougars, cutthroat trout, and western toads. The mountain currently has 10 miles of trails that can be utilized by hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. Volunteers will continue improving habitat in a newly acquired section of the mountain by planting native trees and shrubs this winter.

Mission Statement
Mission: Engaging people to enhance and sustain watersheds through restoration, education, and stewardship.
Description
The Cedar River Watershed, located just 30 miles from Seattle, is the principal water source for those living and working in Seattle and King County. It is an unparalleled preserve of wilderness, old growth forest and clean, pure water. Seattle is one of only six cities its size in North America able to rely on a protected watershed to supply clean, safe, affordable water. This watershed hosts a diverse ecosystem of wildlife including spotted owls, common loons, osprey, cougar, black bear and bull trout. It also provides water for the largest run of sockeye salmon in the lower 48 states. Friends of the Cedar River Watershed ensures the long-term stewardship of this vital ecosystem, provides and promotes environmental education - especially for children - and educates the public about the importance of the Cedar River Watershed.
