The Organization for Autism Research is seeking friendly and enthusiastic volunteers for support at the Marine Corps Marathon Charity Hill on Sunday, October 26th! The Charity Hill is where the runners who have completed both the MCM and the MCM 10K refuel after they finish their race, receive their charity's medal, and reunite with friends and family to celebrate their accomplishment.
Volunteers will assist OAR staff in checking in RUN FOR AUTISM runners, preparing and replenishing food and refreshments, taking the finishers' photos, distributing medals, and maintaining a clean space. We will be needing volunteers from 8:30am to 3pm. Volunteers may choose between two 3-hour time slots when signing up.
Community service letters can be provided for school credit. Volunteers will receive a free RUN FOR AUTISM t-shirt. If you or someone you know is interested, please e-mail with your availability.

Mission Statement
The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) is a national nonprofit organization formed and led by relatives of children and adults with autism and Asperger Syndrome. OAR's mission is to put appied research to work providing answers to questions that parents, families, individuals with autism, teachers and caregivers confront every day. OAR accomplishes this by funding research studies designed to investigate treatments, educational approaches, and statistical aspects of the autism community. No other autism organization has this singular focus.
Description
OAR's work addresses those issues that individuals with autism, their families, caregivers, and teachers encounter each day. Wherever possible, OAR makes its information and resources available to parents and educators at no cost. But we need the help of both generous donors and caring volunteers to cintinue this mission. From event hosting and planning, to spreading the word about OAR to the autism community, a broad range of opportunities exist for those who wish to help in this important work.
