United Housing Connections has some new projects and we are developing a new program called Restore-A-Home where we find abandoned houses in need of work and rehab them for "literally" homeless people or families and work with that resident through a case management program to help them re-establish support services and stabilize their lives. We are looking for interested people & groups that might already be involved with home repairs that have gone on mission trips or disaster relief projects. Description
Established in 1997, the Upstate Homeless Coalition, now United Housing Connections, was established to address the needs of homelessness and the need for affordable, clean, safe housing for low-income families and individuals. The mission of "Connecting People & Housing Solutions to Eliminate Homelessness" reflects the multi-faceted objectives in the various programs. Expanding services to cover 14 counties of South Carolina, UHC provides permanent housing for those with disabilities, the elderly, and HIV/AIDS diagnosed. We provide transitional housing for those coming out homeless or crisis situation. We are the lead agency for the continuum of care, coordinating with other agencies caring for the homeless. Within the continuum, we are the lead agency providing HMIS services. Last year we assisted over 400 adults and children with these services.
