Volunteer Activities: The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office (CMEMO) is seeking a volunteer team that can provide support for operations associated with real events, exercises, training, and other incidents that exceed the capability of local staff. Training will be provided for all tasks listed below.
• Support during disaster events, particularly in assisting citizens in the immediate impact area and supporting recovery efforts.
• Assist citizens during/after severe winter and summer storms.
• Participate as victims during first responder exercises and drills to include natural, technological, and manmade events.
• Support the Homeless Resource Center (HRC) operations during emergency operations.
• Support for emergency shelter activations.
• Support the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during exercises and emergency events.
• Administrative support for Emergency Management staff.
• Support for other incidents that have a negative impact on our community and exceed local staff capabilities.
Specific training will be provided for each scenario mentioned above to ensure baseline knowledge of each operational scenario. There will be two training sessions that each last two hours. Dates and times to be determined.
Time Commitment: On average 4-6 hours per month, after completing 4 hours of training.
Time Frame: 1 Year
Availability: Short notice, emergency response
Location: Varies (throughout Mecklenburg County)

We help homeless families, guide at-risk youth, tutor disadvantaged children, feed the hungry, care for our environment and so much more. Our volunteers address our community's needs through direct service. Hands On Charlotte offers a variety of meaningful volunteer projects that benefits the citizens of Charlotte. We provide volunteers with flexible volunteer opportunities to create positive change. We simplify the process by organizing and promoting dozens of opportunities each month.
