ORGANIZATION: Drueding Center

Drueding Center is a unique transitional housing program for homeless mothers and their children.

We are in need of a volunteer to serve as an Administrative Assistant to the Supervisor of Plant Operations for routine and ongoing activities as well as special projects.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Demonstrate good writing skills
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Adhere to confidentiality policy and professional boundaries
  • Show evidence of organization and ability to multi-task
  • Willing to learn about social service program administration
  • Willing to support the mission of the agency

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing materials for meetings held by the Supervisor of Plant Operations, take notes, write up notes and distribute to appropriate staff and file
  • Set up Pick Ups of donations process paperwork.
  • File & Record Keeping
  • Reproduce and distribute documents and e-mails to staff.
  • Assist in the development and execution of special projects
  • Make calls to Vendors and Services as needed.

The Volunteer must be willing to make a commitment of at least three months since the nature of the work may be project driven

The mission of the Drueding Center, as an integral part of the Holy Redeemer Health System, is to "Care Comfort and Heal." The Statement of Purpose developed by the management and staff of Drueding Center states: "We must ensure that all of our families have the skills and resources necessary to live independently and reach their individual measures of success."

Description

The Sisters of the Holy Redeemer established Drueding Center in 1987 to provide transitional housing services for homeless women and their children. To date, more than 550 women with 1200 children have benefited from our services. Drueding Center (DC) provides its residents with a comprehensive schedule of on-site services including: intensive case management, life skills training, assistance in finding permanent and secure housing, full-day licensed Childcare with Head Start services and an After School program, Clinical Counseling programs for children and mothers, and Education and Employment services through our adult and child learning centers, including a Youth Services Program for children ages 8-13 and an on-site health clinic. After Care services are provided for any former residents (graduate families) of Drueding Center up to 7 years post residence at our facility.
