Announcement: Opportunity to Host a Bosnian Student or Teacher!
The Foundation for International Understanding through Students (FIUTS) is seeking hosts for high school students and teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina for a short-term homestay this spring, lasting from October 25th to November 12th, 2014.
About the Program:
The Youth Leadership Program with Bosnia and Herzegovina will bring 21 high school students and teachers for an intensive three week exchange sponsored by the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This program will enhance the participants’ knowledge of democratic process and discourse and empower youth to have a voice in the debates shaping the future of their communities. Learn more here.
About the Homestay:
The homestay portion of the program will introduce students to American home life. We welcome all kinds of hosts, including single professionals and students, couples and families with or without children, and multigenerational households. Students may be hosted individually or in pairs or groups, and may share a room with a person of the same age and gender. Students will be participating in programming at the University of Washington during the day, and will return to their host families via public transportation every evening. Interested individuals can apply to host at www.fiuts.org/community/homestay/hostapplication.
Hosting is a great way to learn about a new part of the world and share the city you love with an international visitor! To learn more about hosting, contact Manager of Community Programs Ellen Frierson at ellen@fiuts.org or (206) 616-7025.
