This one hour event is in 11 OKCPS schools simultaneously. We aspire to honor, encourage and welcome dads during the 3rd Annual Fathers and Father Figures Take Your Child To School Day. The volunteer roles are very simple: (1) greet and (2) help with easy registration. The greeting role only requires a smile and a "good morning" to each dad. Registration only requires that you hand an information card, a True Dads 3-2-1 pledge card for them to sign and a sticker that says, "I took my child to school today".
We want to help dads improve relationships and communication with their kids, school staff and other dads at the following schools: Douglass and Star Spencer Districts - Douglass, KIPP, Moon Academy, Edwards, Martin Luther King, Parks, Edgemere Elementary - Star Spencer, Rogers Middle School, Spencer and Green Pastures Elementary

TRUE Dads Oklahoma serves as a model for organizing and delivering support and servcies to fathers and father figures (grandfathers, adoptive, foster, single, married, custodial, nonsuctodial and others) through free events, workshops, a statewide fatherhood network, conferences and coalition building. A primary goal is to increase awareness and education among community-based, public and private ... organizations and family-serving systems of the value fathers have and offer to children, families and communities. TRUE Dads believes that for families and communities to benefit fully from fathers intrinsic value, they must be supported, encouraged and offered services that help manage, reduce or remove barriers to involved, nurturing and and effective fathering.
