As a fair trade nonprofit retail organization, the Outreach program at Ten Thousand Villages of Alexandria does its best work between October and December. Our organization is generally volunteer run- we have over 80 dedicated volunteers- but we are currently seeking an outgoing, proactive individual, dedicated to Fair Trade, who would like to help out specifically with the Outreach aspect of Villages Alexandria. The volunteer role will utilize your love of socialization (by putting you in contact with many different types of people,) your management skills (by letting you take the lead on aspects of Outreach,) and your adventurous spirit (because no two events are alike!) Also, we appreciate your love of fair trade shopping and will provide you a volunteer discount just in time for the holidays!

Ten Thousand Villages operates as a business, marketing quality products from diverse cultures around the world made by people that we know and care enough about to do business in a manner that together we consider fair. Ten Thousand Villages of Alexandria is a fair trade retail store that markets the arts and crafts of people in developing countries who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed. Our objective is to provide vital, fair income to these artisans. This income empowers them to secure food, education and healthcare for their families, to improve their housing and to contribute to their communities.
