STEM From Dance uses dance as a culturally relevant source of confidence to bridge the gap to America’s most promising jobs - STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) careers. As the Assistant STEM Coach, you play a very special role in a unique organization. Equipped with your STEM skillset, you help build the confidence and thinking skills of our girls with the end goal of preparing them for a future in STEM. You exude positivity, courage, and individuality and have a passion of using STEM to build others up. You don’t shy away from challenges, have a track record of being reliable, and maintain high expectations for what our students can achieve. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant STEM Coach works with girls to build their confidence and increase their sense of possibility in life and STEM through dance. Responsibilities are as follows: Co-teach, in collaboration with the Lead STEM Coach, the STEM portion of STEM From Dance by implementing the curriculum, facilitating discussions, and teaching STEM skills (i.e. brainstorming, problem-solving, experimenting, etc.) Facilitate program activities by working closely with a small group of students Reinforce STEM From Dance principles, such as positivity, creativity, and perseverance, with students Cultivate strong rapport with students and contribute to a collaborative, warm sense of community Prepare girls for performance showcases STEM topics include computer science and engineering design REQUIRED SKILLS: Must have experience with or degree in science, technology, engineering and/or math Must have excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Must be self-directed and entrepreneurial QUALIFICATIONS: Must have passion for and demonstrated interest in the STEM From Dance mission Must be able to commit 2 hours a week on site and 1 hour in preparation for time on site Prior experience teaching preferred Must pass background investigation HOW TO APPLY: Please follow this link to submit an application.
