About Spirit & Soul Festival 2014

This year’s street festival will feature phenomenal performances by Zumba Fitness recording artist Dahrio Wonder with Gina Grant & Willa "Bontle" Willis , Ric Alexander, RYSE Center’s RAw Talent, and the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts’ Iron Triangle Urban Ballet. Macdonald Avenue will also be host to a vibrant outdoor bazaar brimming with fine dining, artisan vendors, a wine and beer garden, and silent auction items and drawing prizes.

Admission is free in order to provide more opportunities to dance, celebrate, and support our local artisans, food vendors, and Downtown merchants. All proceeds from silent auction, drawing prize, and beverage sales will benefit Richmond Main Street and the revitalization of Downtown. www.richmondmainstreet.org

Mission Statement

The Richmond Main Street Initiative, Inc. is a community-based organization dedicated to revitalizing historic downtown Richmond as a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly urban village offering products, services, arts and entertainment that reflect the community's rich and diverse heritage.

Description

The Richmond Main Street Initiative, Inc., was founded in 2000 and incorporated in 2002 as a California nonprofit corporation. We seek to develop and implement a comprehensive revitalization program to realize fully the economic potential of Richmond, California's historic downtown district. Like many urban commercial districts thought the United States, the downtown area, once a thriving commercial district boasting a variety of retail, service and entertainment options, began to suffer economic reversal by the late 1960's as commercial and residential development shifted to suburbia, drawing much of the area's commercial activity with it. Richmond Main Street is working to restore downtown's former status as a thriving, pedestrian-friendly central business district with arts and entertainment, retail and services to reflect our diverse community.
