Calling all volunteers!

Please join the City of Alexandria, Virginia Native Plant Society, Grass Bunch and the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust for an invasive shrub workday at Dora Kelley Park. This event will take place on Thursday, September 25th at 10am and will last about 3 to 4 hours. Invasive shrubs, such as Autumn and Silvery Olive, Japanese Holly, and Burning Bush will be targeted. Please bring the following with you to the event:
-Loppers or hand saw for cutting the invasives
-Water bottle
-Wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt

Water and restrooms will be available inside the Ford Nature Center. Parking is available in the lot by the tennis court and there is street parking along Sanger Ave. Meet us at the entrance to Dora Kelley Nature Park at the end of Sanger Ave.

NVCT is an award-winning charity that saves nearby nature by helping local governments and private landowners voluntarily preserve natural areas, trails, streams and parks. Founded in 1994, NVCT has preserved nearly 5800 acres in Northern Virginia. NVCT currently holds 101 conservation easements and owns 20 properties.

We work hard to preserve land for our community, but we can't do it without your help! Do your part by volunteeting your time to help us stop the invasion of non-native, invasive plants, plant trees, restore parks, trails, and waterways, and much more!
