Job Summary:

Camfed is seeking a Development and Administrative Intern to support this work in gaining experience in fundraising and office administration while learning about the behind-the-scene operation procedures of an international nonprofit. The Development and Administrative Intern will be responsible for helping to strengthen Camfed’s fundraising and individual donor relations. The Intern will also have the opportunity to build Salesforce database skills while supporting office operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with donor communications, including thank you letters to individual donors;
  • Learn how to use Salesforce in order to log and track donations;
  • Develop education and fundraising resources for Camfed supporters;
  • Run reports for process quality control and to analyze giving trends of individual donors;
  • Assist the Development and Administrative Officer with office operations, writing and research projects as needed; and
  • Support with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing skills and great attention to detail;
  • Some college education;
  • Familiarity with international development terminology and resources;
  • Familiarity with fundraising, internet research techniques and Microsoft Office; and
  • Enthusiasm for promoting Camfed's mission.

Terms and Conditions:

A commitment of three days a week from September to the end of January is required. This position is located in San Francisco, CA. All applicants must be residents of the Bay Area to qualify.

Compensation:

Unpaid, with a monthly stipend available to cover local travel expenses and lunches.

Description

The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) is dedicated to fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS in rural communities in Africa by educating girls. CAMFED began in 1993 by supporting 32 girls in rural Zimbabwe. In 2006, 300,900 children benefited from CAMFED's program of educational support in some of the poorest regions of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana and Tanzania.
