What is so special about the Camfed-Kiva Internship position?

As the Camfed-Kiva Intern, you will gain experience leading our newly expanding partnership with Kiva.org, a micro-lending organization currently supporting Camfed borrowers in Zimbabwe and Tanzania. The experience and expertise you gain will give you an impressive edge when applying to future jobs.

You will also have great freedom and responsibility. As this is a newly expanding initiative for Camfed, you will be instrumental in shaping its success. You will have the ability to make key decisions and your work will have a big impact on the Camfed community.

Working directly with the Camfed USA Development Officer and Co-Director, you will reach thousands of borrowers, supporting our strategy for the future. Duties and Responsibilities:

In this role you will communicate and coordinate with field teams to create a monthly calendar of deadlines for profile review; provide support for Kiva-related tasks within the Camfed USA office, including but not limited to:

  • Review borrower profiles and journals within a set timeframe;
  • Take meeting minutes for Skype calls with field offices (mornings);
  • Monitor Cama borrower profiles on Kiva.org;
  • Lead Camfed's lending team on Kiva's website; and
  • Support the Development Officer in writing and research, as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A dynamic, energetic person that has demonstrated that they consistently go the extra mile on all projects;
  • At least a college senior, but preferably, a post-graduate;
  • Experience with design tools including Adobe InDesign, a plus;
  • An effective, friendly communicator, both online and in person; and
  • A polished, poised, and professional team member.

Compensation:

Unpaid, with a monthly stipend to cover local travel expenses and lunches.

Description

The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) is dedicated to fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS in rural communities in Africa by educating girls. CAMFED began in 1993 by supporting 32 girls in rural Zimbabwe. In 2006, 300,900 children benefited from CAMFED's program of educational support in some of the poorest regions of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana and Tanzania.
