The Listening Ear Crisis Intervention Center is welcoming new volunteers for our Fall 2014 Training! You can help our people in our community deal with grief, suicide, sexual assault, substance abuse, and a variety of other issues. No experience is required- our training program will prepare you with the skills needed. If you would like to volunteer you must attend one of the following Orientations:
- Thurs. Sept 18th, 7-9 pm at MSU, Berkey Hall
- Wed. Sept 24th, 7-9 pm at MSU, Berkey Hall
- Thurs. Sept 25th, 12 pm- 2 pm at Lansing Community College
- Sat. Sept 27th, 11am-1pm at The Listening Ear, 2504 E Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912

To provide free and confidential service for telephone and walk-in clients in crisis.
Description
The Listening Ear Crisis Intervention Center has been open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year since July 15, 1969. We provide free and confidential service for telephone and walk-in clients in crisis. We define crisis as "any situation in which your normal coping mechanisms are ineffective or unavailable." Our volunteers are trained to deal with crises that include depression, suicide, loneliness, sexual assault, grief, and many others. We also provide referrals for services throughout the Lansing area.
